GE Security is pleased to announce the immediate availability of two new Desktop Credential Readers.  These devices, commonly called keyboard wedges, support GE Security 125 kHz proximity credentials (Entrée, ProxLite and ISOProxLite badges and keytags) and Mifare or Vicinity Smart Card Serial Numbers (ISO 14443A or ISO 15693 credentials). They may also be used as a logical PC login device.

A keyboard wedge is a device that works in conjunction with the operator’s keyboard; the wedge quickly and accurately retrieves ID badge numbers from proximity credentials and allows security administrators to efficiently populate software application data fields without having to manually input any card data. The keyboard wedges connect to an operator’s computer system through a standard USB interface. The devices also do not require an external power source.
